Überwachung total, brutal, tödlich - wie konnte es am Gymnasium der Stadt Meschede nur so weit kommen?
Keine Angst, die Führungsriege darf sich entspannen - es ist weiterhin alles in Butter bei uns. Schuld ist mal wieder ein kreatives Projekt, diesmal im Englisch-Leistungskurs der Q2. Seit geraumer Zeit schon war das Thema „Utopia and Dystopia“ besprochen, belesen, von allen Seiten beleuchtet worden - was jetzt noch fehlte, war die kreative Umsetzung…als dystopischer Kurzfilm.
„Albtraumhaft“ sollte die Atmosphäre sein, so ähnlich wie in George Orwell’s Klassiker, 1984. Außerdem „deprimierend“. Und natürlich „trostlos“.
„Wäre doch gelacht, wenn man bei uns nicht auch passende Ecken für die Filmkulisse finden könnte“, dachte sich der entsprechende Englischlehrer. Und er hatte Recht und war von dem Ergebnis so begeistert, dass die Filme hier nun veröffentlicht werden. Die Aufgabenstellung, auf Englisch natürlich, findet ihr weiter unten.
Ein wichtiger Hinweis noch für alle, die unsere Schule nicht kennen: Es ist eigentlich ganz nett hier und gar nicht so bedrückend, wie in den Filmen teilweise zu sehen.
Und ein letzter Hinweis, diesmal für die Einheimischen: Es gibt anscheinend Grund zur Hoffnung auf einer anderen „Baustelle“. Ausgerechnet die Schultoiletten kommen in diesen dystopischen Fantasien nicht vor - die Lage scheint sich dort also verbessert zu haben:)

Capturing the atmosphere of “Nineteen Eighty-Four“
Leistungskurs Englisch Q2, Gymnasium der Stadt Meschede - 2019/20
Make a film, set at our school, that captures the atmosphere of the first chapter of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four“:
- The film should be around 1-2 minutes long and offer a depressing look at the school and its “inmates“.
- Specific elements of Orwell’s novel are allowed to be shown (e.g. posters of Big Brother), but are not necessary for creating the right atmosphere.
- Shots of the outside and the inside of the building(s) should also add to the depressing atmosphere.
- A main character can be shown, but it is not essential to show his or her face.
- Editing / further post-production must stress the dismal atmosphere (styling, music…).
- A title would be nice (factual, not flashy!) that reminds the viewers of Orwell’s original.
